Preserving history and developing a creative community
The Juneteenth African American Arts Museum and Repository (JA3M) is a vital step for TSEJA in promoting equitable representation of African Americans and BIPOC descendants of the Transatlantic Slave Trade in the South. Since 2020, our has focused on education, cultural celebration, and entrepreneurship in Southeast Alabama. With initiatives like the largest Juneteenth celebration in south Alabama and significant scholarship funding, we strive to ensure our communities feel valued and supported. Our Mission
To create a sustainable Arts & Garden District that honors the contributions of African-Americans and other ethnicities affected by the Transatlantic Slave Trade. As ethnologists, art & historical studies will be utilized to educate patrons, promote artists, and provide social equity as well as promote well being for community residents.
Visionary Perspective
We want to tell an old story about our history in a new way--right here in Dothan, AL. The JA3M will not only give us a way to tell that story, but to foster change and healing along the way.
